I've been making gloves and boots for many years now from a variety of materials, and for gloves the best is a soft, stretch vinyl, like you want. I use an ordinary home sewing machine, nothing special, but I do have a great technique that really works for fancy dress gloves. I'm putting together a tutorial for it right now, and I think I'll either be using soft matte vinyl like you want or perhaps some PU rubber, which also works fantastic. I wouldn't be afraid to try it. After all, it's still much cheaper than leather. Go for it!
